In recent weeks Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with the left-sided midfielder and would be prepared to substantially increase his salary.

Reports this morning have suggested that Liverpool have stepped up their efforts, with Rafa Benitez looking for more left winger's after deciding to let Bolo Zenden and Mark Gonzalez leave.

An offer that will include Mark Gonzalez is supposedly in the pipeline, to convince Valencia to let him go.

Despite that, the Mestalla-based outfit are not panicking as sporting director, Amedeo Carboni, revealed that they will not be hurried into renegotiating terms.

"At the moment we would not feel the need to renew his contract, which is a very good contract," the Italian explained.

"But maybe we could offer a reward of some sort, something that the club has already done before.

"It would not be a completely new contract, but like happened six months after David Villa joined, we could revise his current deal.

"This club has shown before that it is always behind its' players."

Carboni did send a warning that the club are not prepared to break the bank to meet unrealistic demands, however, and will not be held to ransom.

"There is a limit to everything. I cannot ask the club to buy a player that costs more than €100m," he continued. "There is also a limit for all employees and that includes the players."

Silva, 21, has enjoyed an impressive campaign at Valencia after returning from a season long loan at Celta Vigo last term.

A long injury list gave the Spanish international his extended run in Quique Sánchez Flores' team and he revelled in the opportunity to become a regular throughout the campaign.
